Downtown Austin apartments are surrounded by trendy nightclubs, cafes, and music, outdoor recreation, and a multi-cultural blend of boutiques and galleries.

The downtown neighborhood in Austin is famous for entertainment areas. Whether it's the Sixth Street area, the Warehouse District or the multi-cultural mix of restaurants and clubs around the Convention Center, something's always going on.

But Austin's downtown neighborhood offers more than just nightlife for apartment dwellers. Most Downtown apartments are in the central area, far enough from the nightlife. Downtown Austin apartments are also near galleries and shops, as well as recreation possibilities around Town Lake.

Restaurants around downtown apartments vary in price and nature. If you have to get up early in the morning, stop at the renowned Las Manitas Cafe on Congress for migas or a breakfast taco. Later, coffee shops and bakeries offer their bounty inside or on sidewalk tables. The urban plaza and Capitol grounds lure lunchers with music and fresh air, and Katz's Deli is open 24 hours. A popular place for an evening drink is the Fado Irish Pub, hosting a mixed crowd of professionals, expatriate Irish, and students, enjoying the Irish ambiance and the frequent live music. The popular Nomad Bar has indoor seating, and an outdoor patio, with a great wine menu and a growing dinner menu and lots of free parking. The Cedar Door on Brazos and the Molotov on Sixth are other neighborhood favorites.

Downtown is one of the most pedestrian-friendly neighborhoods in Austin. If you live there, you don't need a car; you can walk to shops, galleries, bookstores and an array of small international boutiques everything from food to furniture, or take one of the "Dillo" buses in the area. Weekends are just as lively as workdays. You'll find film festivals, art shows and a Saturday farmer's market on Republic Square.
