The Barton Springs area is known for its proximity to Zilker Park and the Barton Springs Pool. This pool is unique in that it is created by damming the springs and has a natural limestone bedrock for a bottom. The pool is usually opened from early morning around 5 AM to 10 PM at night. It is closed regularly once a week for cleaning, and from March to late summer, a small entrance fee is required. However, it is opened year round for swimming maintaining a comfortable temperature. Residents of the area not only enjoy the nearby pool, but also a variety of housing options including single family homes and apartments.
